Today Is Military Spouse Appreciation Day!

by Laura Kennedy on May 7, 2010

“Military Spouse Appreciation Day” was established to recognize and salute the strength, patriotism and unfailing support of military husbands and wives towards the mission of the United States military.

In 1984, then President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the Friday before Mother’s Day to be designated as Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

While their husbands or wives took a voluntary oath and signed on a dotted line to join the military, spouses were enlisted through the back door with the vows they took on their wedding day.  In choosing their mates, they inadvertently chose their way of life.  Many have already given up their own careers and traditional home lifestyle to follow their active duty spouses across the globe.  And from own personal experience…THEY ARE DOING IN PROUDLY!
